Sherwin Williams Color Of The Year

UPWARD

The moment I saw “Upward,” the color of the year my heart was captivated. Sherwin Williams “Upward” boasts a serene blue hue that exudes a gentle, blissful ambiance. Upward is the color of the year.

As someone who has always been drawn to blue-gray tones, this color instantly resonated with me.

As you can imagine, color is super important in interior design. It totally affects how a room feels.

Every year, people who love design can’t wait to find out the Color of the Year. It’s a color that shows what’s trendy and what’s up in culture. Sherwin-Williams picked “Upward” for 2024. It’s this calming blue that feels fresh and kind of like things are moving forward smoothly.

Positive Sunny Paint Color That Embraces Tranquil

Spearheaded by Sue Wadden, Director of Color Marketing at Sherwin-Williams, the selection of “Upward” signals a departure from the tumultuous past years, embracing a sunny day energy and warm neutrals that evoke a notion of contentment.

This beautiful color, reminiscent of a clear sky on a tranquil day, is versatile enough to grace kitchen cabinets, accent walls, or entire living spaces, infusing them with positive energy and a renewed sense of comfort.

Don’t you just love that?

It has an LRV of 57, which makes it light-reflecting. But it still has enough pigment to look colorful (and not at all neutral) on the wall. The undertones of Upward are neutral which makes it easy to work with.

“Although Upward SW 6239 naturally harmonizes with coastal design themes, its versatility transcends stylistic boundaries. “You can achieve a multitude of looks with Upward SW 6239—it pairs beautifully with antiques, contemporary furniture, transitional elements, and even bohemian interiors,”

How To Use SW Upward In Your Home

Upward is the type of paint color that is ideal for smaller rooms such as bathrooms, offices and also as painted woodwork.

I love the idea of painting bathroom vanity, beadboard office desk drawers. I would highly recommend using Upward with clean white paint. Since the paint color is tranquil, a bedroom is also a nice choice.

For instance, in a white bathroom, paint the bathroom vanity with Upward paint. Another idea would be to paint the walls with Upward or beadboard if the vanity is a pure white.

The best white paint colors that pair well with Upward are: Sherwin-Williams Upward contrasts beautifully with cool and cleaner whites like SW Extra WhiteSW White SnowSW High Reflective White, and SW Pure White

Upward is not a color you would use as an exterior paint color but possibly a exterior door on the right house.

Is “SW Upward” a Cool or Warm Hue?

Upward will look cool blue in a North facing room. In South and west- facing rooms, make note that the sun will add more red tones into the mix. Upward looks great in south and western facing rooms because the sun makes the paint appear warmer.
