Gal Pal’s Guide To- The 2020 Spring & Summer Wardrobe

-Essentials Every Gal Must Have –

Do you have spring fever like me? The sun has been out the last few days, and since it’s been such a cold and soggy winter, all I can think about is enjoying everything that the new season has to offer. There’s something in the air, spring break, spring vacation, spring weddings — spring fever. We want to get out, wear our fresh spring attire, and meet up with friends.

This fever has inspired me to clean out my closet and put away some heavy winter sweaters. Shifting some of my winter clothes around has made more room for my spring wardrobe. Just looking at the spring and summer clothes brings a smile to my face. I know I will be sporting a new look soon.

The 2020 spring trends are already appearing on the streets in the warmer climates. There are so many fun new trends that you will want to wear this spring. Whether you’re planning ahead for warm-weather events like a weekend wedding or a casual date, wherever your off-duty days take you, I’ve got a few fashion-forward wardrobe essentials- the staples you will wear all season long. I hope that this list of items will save you lots of time shopping this season.

There are eight essential wardrobe pieces you should have in your closet this spring. Use the Gal Pal’s guide as a checklist to build a strong foundation of timeless pieces that be paired with almost anything in your closet this spring and beyond.

As I shop for a few fun, trendy items, I always find that there are essential spring and summer items every girl needs in her closet. It’s usually the pieces that tend to wear out like a comfy stark white t-shirt. Keep in mind that these spring and summer staples work almost like a canvas…. so adding a trendy item here and there is turn-key. According to the fashionista’s, every gal must have eight essential wardrobe pieces in your closet this spring and beyond.

SPRING & SUMMER WARDROBE ESSENTIALS YOU MUST HAVE

1. White T-Shirts

That’s T-shirts plural! It’s great to a a V neck and a comfy long sleeve t-shirt for instance. It’s hard to think of an outfit that won’t work with a white tee. This staple looks great with denim, skirts, sweats, and jeans of any kind.  I love Jennifer Aniston’s look, in a white t-shirt.  So stock up on white t-shirts ladies! Did you know that Jennifer has her t-shirts tailored? I know!

  2.  White Jeans

White jeans are always a great idea in the Spring and Summer! This season, there are all types of jeans in style. The wide legged and flare pant type is hip this season. For me,  I still like the skinny straight jean since I am vertically challenged. Distressed jeans are still in style this season. The ripped white jeans I am wearing  pictured above (with my sweet late Lucky dog) are one of my favorite comfy jeans.

3.  Cute Sneaks

Sneakers are being worn with everything this Spring including dresses. Here are some clean cute sneaks to consider.

4. A Lite Spring/Summer Scarf

A multicolor scarf will be something you can wear over and over and over again. You can tie it different ways and also wear at as a wrap. The right scarf  will add texture and style to any outfit.

5. Lightweight Coat and Jacket

Do you have a go-to lightweight coat in your closet? Perhaps a utility type of jacket, denim jacket or a trench coat? Whatever your lifestyle is like, make sure you have at least one lightweight coat/jacket you can grab and feel good wearing this Spring.

The reason I like a denim jacket is it’s a perfect layering piece over a dress, t-shirt, blouse or whatever. You can dress it up or down.  I love white and a white denim jacket is a clean look.  A utility jacket is a different look and a good alternative to a jean jacket.

A nice fitting trench coat never goes out of style so if you don’t have one, it’s a great choice. I have a black, dark blue and I want to get a classic tan trench soon. A lightweight trench is perfect for travel. I brought one with me to Paris and I wore it the entire trip.

6.  Long Sleeve Spring Dress

If you are like me, it’s nice to have a dress you can throw on that you can dress up and wear with sneakers, booties or a cute pair of summer sandals.  Because I live in Seattle, I tend to want to wear dresses with sleeves.  I also know women my age don’t always like to wear sleeveless shirts and dresses. I always feel more confident in longer sleeves.

7.  Straw Bag

When have straw bags ever been out of style? Never! As far as I know anyway! Nothing says spring and summer better than a pretty straw bag. Whether it is a tote bag or a hand bag, straw bags have always been been that timeless look, good with any spring and summer outfit.

8. Sandals

Let’s face it, we need several types of sandals for the warmer months ahead. It’s nice to have strappy sandals for dressier affairs and flat sandals you can slide on for daytime lunches and poolside fun. I love Paul Green’s sandals because they are super comfy and perfect for travel and lots of walking. The following list of sandals are some of the most popular brands out there right now.  Have fun shopping!
